I woke up this morning and decided to bake a cake. I've always admired the beautiful and colorful cakes by Matchbox Kitchen and thought it would be a fun challenge to bake a "naked" cake. After researching various chiffon cake and cream cheese frosting recipes, I picked up fresh flowers, berries and ingredients from the farmers market along with my very first cake pan. I intended to make a layered naked cake, but apparently the pan I bought was too large, so I only ended up with one layer of cake — oh well, next time! Frosting and decorating took over an hour, but it was the best and most creative part. I got in there with tweezers and everything! I'm pretty proud of my little cake and can't wait to share with friends and family this week.
